Belonging to the family of Rubiaceae, Cape jasmine is an outdoor flowering plant which was originally grown in Asia. Its leaves, which are around 4 inches in length, are green and shiny and the flowers are white and aromatic. The Cape jasmine is grown as a shrub which can reach a height of 3ft and the color of its bark is grey. It requires an exposure to the sun but cannot withstand the scorching rays of the sun. In that case, the plant will need some kind of protection from the heat.

Since this is an outdoor plant it can get infected by powdery mildew, black spots, the leaves of the plant could get infested with small insects in which case you will need to use insecticides without harming the plant.

It needs the exposure of the sun but too much heat can be a hindrance to its growth. So it needs to be out in the sun in the morning and put in the shade during the later part of the day. In a cooler environment, it can tolerate the sun’s rays throughout the day.

The soil should be acidic in nature with pH no higher than 6 and should contain moisture.

Water usages should be regulated so that the soil does not get too wet.

A minimum temperature of 16-degree c is favorable for the growth of the plant.

It is imperative that the pH level of the soil is maintained so iron chelate can be incorporated in the soil to maintain the required balance
