Growing this plant is relatively simple and they are considered a native to South Africa. The potted plants can reach up to a height of 6-8” with the help of adequate light, water, and temperature.

They belong to the family of Stonecrops and they are adaptable to a range of climatic conditions. Jade has an important place in the Feng shui tradition for they are considered auspicious by many. With their woody stems with gloss-surfaced leaves, they sometimes bloom flowers.  The proper amount of sunlight can help them in blooming healthily and prevent from excess falling of leaves. Some of the interesting aspects of this plant are that they are low-maintenance and should be best potted in the southeast direction.

These plants need a healthy amount of sunlight, for around 4 hours on a daily basis. Typically, they are therefore planted on the south-facing windows. They also rejuvenate under the dappled light.

The soil must be well-drained, and high in the organic mix. Usage of partial sphagnum peat moss coupled with coarse sand is best for a flourishing growth of the plants. Moreover, the soil should possess a moderately balanced pH, neither high nor low.

Excess moisture or soggy soil could consequent in root rot, therefore they must be allowed to dry especially during winter. The appearance of brown spots on leaves is also a clear indication that they are not receiving an adequate amount of water.

They are best fertilized for approximately 3 to 4 times a year, preferably with a well-balanced soluble fertilizer. Excessive fertilizing on dry soil can have a negative impact on the plants.
