Planting and Care

Sunlight varies from one season to another. During summer, mild sunlight is best suitable when during winter; a healthy amount of sunlight can foster its growth. It would grow steadily if not positioned below harsh sunrays.

They can be nurtured in any kind of soil; however, a soil mixture is most preferred for healthy growth. Water should be allowed to filter through the soil, with a degree of moisture in it.Excessively dry soil can eventually turn the foliage grey and the tips burn. Moreover, excessive moisture can also act in a negative way since it can cause root rot and spotting.

Watering should be done to ensure that there is sufficient drainage. Water should only be poured when the soil has dried completely around ½ of its depth. Amount of watering these plants generally depends on weather conditions, but ideally should be kept to once in a month. Adequate watering is also helpful to ward off pests, which might otherwise aggravate at a fast pace.

60-70 ͦ F, sunlight is favourable to the growth of these plants.

Fertilizers should be applied in small amounts, the leaf colour of the plants should be sufficient enough to indicate the exact dosage.

Caring for Rhapis Palm

Rhapis palm additionally needs to be pruned for a healthy growth, for instance, cutting the lower leaves turning yellow or brown is essential. Pruning dangerously close to its trunk can severely damage the plant. If they are turning extremely weak, mulching can reduce the frailty. Light intensity should be kept moderate and the plants should never be placed under direct sunlight. The plants should be shielded from common pests like caterpillar, aphids, scales and spider mites which can cause powdery mildew and Pythium.
